To Our Goldenridge Neighbors In case you are new to hosting a Yard Sale we have put together a list of tips and a checklist to help get you started. PREPARE EARLY -A few days before the sale you want to get everything together that you are ready to sell. Clean out closets, attics and storage units. PRICED ITEMS SELL!!!!! – Put prices on your items. Shoppers are more likely to show interest if they know how reasonably priced you are. You can pick up a pack of tags at the dollar store. Masking tape or anything easily removed works also. CLEAN and FUNCTIONING ITEMS SELL- Most people are out looking for hidden treasures. Stained T-Shirts and scratched DVD’s are not hidden treasures. You never know what will catch someones eye. It will sell better if it looks new(unless its an antique). Especially baby items. SET UP EARLY- The sale starts at 8 and you want to be ready before that. Do Not start setting up AT 8. CAN YOU BREAK A 20?- Go to the bank to get change. Shoppers will present large bills. 20’s 10’s and 5’s. Have some $5 bills and some $1 bills available. A roll of quarters will help too. REMEMBER… if using a cash box Don’t leave it unattended. NEGOTIATE- Have a price set in mind but be willing to negotiate on bigger items. Its simply how this business works. We are trying to make money but don’t walk away from a reasonable offer…. REASONABLE!!!!!!! SMILE!- Greet people as they approach your sale. Make your space a fun and inviting place to be. When you interact with people on Saturday you are a salesman. Please don’t be rude. We would like to repeat this again. Represent your community with pride! We have so many excited neighbors participating in this event. It will be a beautiful day according to news. Lets have a great sale and make some money. Best of Luck! Do you have…… o A calculator o Plastic bags o Packaging for fragile items o Change o Tables or blankets to organize and keep items off the grass o Tags to price items o Pen and paper to keep track of your sales o Don’t forget CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!
