To Randall Arnold and others who responded to my posting of a FGL - TopicsExpress

To Randall Arnold and others who responded to my posting of a FGL review (which I did not write). The production of music is an odd business. Music is manufactured in bedrooms, basements, small cozy studios and as in well multi million dollar facilities. Sometimes it is an artist by themselves and at other times there are full teams involved. The development of art is a personal choice. When you mix art with commerce you are sometimes faced with difficult choices. Depending on your life goals these choices can vary from being no brainer decisions to being well though out strategies, either can bring extreme happiness to your world or regrets that follow you forever. In the case of this review I found that the writers sentiments hit a nerve with me. I share a lot of ideas with my friends on social media and for the most part I enjoy the following conversations. It is always interesting to see differing opinions from a large group of people. As for the FGL and Nickleback references, I can only say that these two artists exist in a popular artistic medium and they do what they do amazingly well. Joey Moi is,without a doubt, one of the best popular music producers on the planet. His track record and ability to work in a variety of styles is astounding. NB and FGL are as well unbelievably talented at their craft. Again this is proven by their sales numbers and their concert attendance. People love them for a reason. Randy, I am sorry that you feel an artist would disappoint you by posing a viewpoint differing from your own. If I have written the review and they were my words I would feel a stronger urge to defend the case. However, it was a review that for me posed an interesting interpretation of the state of a very popular music genre. Sentiments in the article I agreed with, some I did not and others I found humorous. All in all, I firmly believe (and Randy you know me) there is a place and a need for all degrees of art. Just because I may not like something does not in any way reduce its relevance. All that said - Randy, your negative opinion of my sharing of this review says more about a pressure to repress artistic discourse that any statement on music. Keep your eyes open for a shared post from me reflecting a great review of FGL soon enough.
