To SECRETARY, ALL INDIA INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION SOCIETY. Dear Sir, It is heartening to learn that the All India Industrial Exhibition Society (AIIE) is celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of All India Industrial Exhibition (Numaish) this year. However, we regret to say that the Exhibition Society has completely ignored the Last Nizam of Hyderabad Deccan, Mir Osman Ali Khan, during whose reign the exhibition was started. I would like to remind you that that the “ Numaish-E-Masnuaat-E-Mulki ” was started in 1938 by a group of graduates of Osmania University and they enjoyed the complete patronage of the Last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan. It was due to his interest and support that the Numaish turned into a culture and became an inseparable part of Hyderabad. Starting from a mere 100 stalls for 10 days in 1938, today it is considered one of the biggest commercial congregations of the country. The members of the All India Industrial Exhibition Society appear to have decided to deliberately ignore the Last Nizam and his contribution. Therefore, neither his name nor his pictures have been used in any of the institutions run by the All India Industrial Exhibition Society. Similarly, the Nizams picture is also missing from the posters of Platinum Jubilee celebrations published by the Exhibition Society. The Exhibition Society has also neglected Urdu, the second official language of Telangana State. While Urdu has been removed from the Societys sign board, the Platinum Jubilee posters were printed only in English and Telugu languages. The Society members have ignored the fact that at least 75 per cent of the people who visit Numaish are Urdu speaking. This is an open insult not only to the Urdu speaking population, but also to the founders of Exhibition Society who studied in Osmania University in Urdu medium. These two instances indicate that the Exhibition Society has fallen into the grip of Sangh Parviar and its communal outfits like RSS & BJP. The acts of ignoring Last Nizam and Urdu language clearly reflect the communal mindset of those running the Exhibition Society. In view of the above facts, we request you to kindly include the picture of Last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan in the Platinum Jubilees posters, banners and other publicity material. Further, we request you to kindly use Urdu language in all your sign boards, posters, banners and other literature. Else, the Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) will be forced to launch a strong protest against the Exhibition Society and its office bearers. Thanking you Yours Sincerely AMJED ULLAH KHAN (Ex Corporator) OLD PHOTOS OF NUMAISH-E-MASNUATH-E-MULKI : 1) Visit of H.E.H.The Nizam of Hyderabad at Exhibition to inaugurate the Numaish-E-Masnuath-E-Mulki. 2) H.E.H.
