To all Aviation Lovers in PNG, Tomorrow is a Launching of LINK PNG in Lae. I just want to put a question. What is the purpose of creating Link PNG from Air Niugini Ltd. It is a good concept created but too much politics involved in Aviation could jeopardise aviation safety at risk. Link PNG was created without planning, they (politicians, Air Niugini Board etc) made an early news to Take over Air Niugini. If Link PNG is a subsidary company of Air Niugini Ltd. It should be competative in Aviation Industry in PNG and not wasting tax payers money. Firstly I 80% believe that Link PNG has not satiafied PNG-CASA requirements as it is not fit to operate at a mandatory requirement as they are using Air Niugini assets and equipment including the Turbo-Propellor Aircrafts all have been tranfered to Link PNG and How well will they make money from Link PNG as all profits will go to Air Niugini and where will they (Link PNG) get revenue/income. Link PNG should start as a third Level airline and buy small aircraft to operate as a Low cost carrier model, providing an affordable and safe service in PNG on a community service obligation ( CSO) and operate to Remote Airstrip in Rural areas making connecting routes to major centres in PNG where flexible Transit of service with Air Niugini can be profitable. At the moment Air Niugini will loose more income from coperate charters and smaller town commercial flights to Link PNG though its a subsidary company to Air Niugini somebody will be benefiting at the back. It is Too early to start this subsidary company it is not going to be competible, profitable and safe to travel. The wisdom of such a move is very doubtful. It will suggest a depth of more knowledge will be applied to the compexity and size of modern commercial transport aircraft when EASA system would come in 2015 relpacing CASA. Should Regulators relax and listen to Government and hand more responsibility over to operators then a number of things will happen in the future. Standards will drop, pay conditions will decrease but most importantly of all, accidents will occur more often within the airline. Link PNG will be a waste of time and Air Niugini can be bankrupted and the only way now is to be privatised. wrong move we go again. come on PNG. Our National Airline is going the bad way ahead of time.
