To all my Canaanite, Moabite, Israelite brothas & sistas. KNOW THY SELF!!! Canaan was the youngest son of Noahs second-born son Ham. Canaans descendants became known as Canaanites. The Canaanites inhabited the land from Lebanon, in the north, to Gaza, in the southwest, over to Sodom and Gomorrah, in the southeast. 10:1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood [see also How Did The Flood Happen?]. (Genesis 10:1 KJV) 10:6 And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. (Genesis 10:6 KJV) 10:15 And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth, 10:16 And the Jebusite [see A History Of Jerusalem: Jebus Of Canaan], and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, 10:17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, 10:18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. 10:19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha. (Genesis 10:15-19 KJV) Long before there were any Israelites or Jews (all of whom were descendants of Abraham, none of whom yet existed in Abrahams lifetime - Abraham died when Jacob was just fifteen years old, before Jacob / Israel had any Israelite children), the LORD, Who is the Creator (the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Isaiah 40:28 KJV) and Owner of all of the Earth (all the earth is mine Exodus 19:5 KJV), commanded the Iraqi-born Abraham to go and settle there, with the proclamation Unto thy seed will I give this land. 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD [see Who Is The LORD?] had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. 12:5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brothers son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came [see A Biography Of Abraham: From Ur To Canaan]. 12:6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. 12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. (Genesis 12:4-7 KJV) The first Jews were the children of Jacob / Israels son Judah (Jew is an abbreviation of Judah). After Jacob returned from Syria with his children who were born there, including Judah (see A Biography Of Jacob: The Jacobites Of Syria, A Biography Of Jacob: When Jacob Became Israel and A Biography Of Jacob: The Return To Canaan), Judah married a Canaanite woman (Judah couldnt marry a Jew because none existed yet), who became the primal mother of all Jews (see Who Were The First Jews?). Jews of today are as much descended from Canaanites as they are from Judah. 38:1 And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah. 38:2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her. 38:3 And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er. 38:4 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan. 38:5 And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him. (Genesis 39:1-5 KJV) After the Exodus, the LORD commanded the Israelites (including, as we read above, those who were descended from Canaanites) to drive out the idol-worshiping Canaanites from the land promised to Abraham. 3:8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land [see Abrahams Seed: From The Nile To The Euphrates] unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey [see The Way To The Land Of Milk And Honey]; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (Genesis 3:8 KJV) What was the problem with Canaanites, if Israelites themselves were descended from them? It obviously wasnt their race; it was their heathen religion - their abominations, which they have done unto their gods. 20:17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee: 20:18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God. (Genesis 20:17-18 KJV) But does that mean, since the Israelites had Canaanite blood, that Canaanites could become citizens of the kingdom of the LORD? Answer, yes. One of the most famous examples was the Canaanite woman Rahab, a citizen of Jericho, who rejected the heathen Canaanite religion and turned to the LORD, saying for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. 2:11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. (Joshua 2:11 KJV) Rahab the Canaanite lived and married among the Israelites. Rahab broke the barrier, not of race, but of obedience to the LORD. 6:22 But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlots house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her. 6:23 And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel. 6:24 And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD. 6:25 And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her fathers household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. (Joshua 6:22-25 KJV) The Canaanite woman Rahab is accounted among the faithful, a listing that includes Abraham, Isaac and Jacob themselves. 11:31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. (Hebrews 11:31 KJV) The LORD created humans of one blood, but with bounds of their habitation - their own specific homelands, as determined by the Creator and Owner of the Earth, the LORD. But salvation is open to everyone, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us. 17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: (Acts 17:26-27 KJV) The land of Israel was promised to a specific Messianic line of descendants of Abraham, before his descendants the Israelites existed, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. When the promise was made to Abraham, he himself was a former heathen (Abraham was born as an idol-worshiping Babylonian) who had turned to the LORD. Abrahams example was for all people, so that, like Rahab, and all others, they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. Salvation is open to everyone who truly follows the LORD (which ironically, the man-made religion of the people of Judah today does not do; see Israel In History and Prophecy: Judaism and Israel In History and Prophecy: The New Covenant). 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
