To all my Facebook Horsey Friends (the rest who prefer motor - TopicsExpress

To all my Facebook Horsey Friends (the rest who prefer motor bikes, save yourself the read and just scroll on through your newsfeed and dont waste your time reading on!)..... I just want to put it out there - that as a mum trying to get her girl riding - and getting myself back into the saddle after years.... I know how daunting it is to get back into the horsey world (whichever stream of this horsey world you are wanting to have a go at cause lets face it ... its a daunting world with so many different options!) Ive not been asked to do this plug, in any way - but I feel its needed as its justice to all you other horse lovers out there! Are you worried that you are just too basic , or not experienced enough? Are you actually worried that your horse or yourself just arent ready to take the next step? This was ME.... and even after already being to two clinics etc - I was planning to take horsey out to see what we could achieve with getting my daughter going. But... I was completely full of self doubt, Ive put it off for the past two school holidays - telling myself the pony will play up, I havent done enough work with him yet - or Ill be told Im far far away from kicking goals and dont know what Im doing - or that I would go home feeling like I was YEARS away from getting Zoe in the saddle. If you have any of the feelings like I have - and just dont know how to leap yourself into the next step of your horsey journey - then you need to take a leap of faith. Bill & Barb Willoughby have the most amazing facilities - the safest round yards, bigger yards and then the BIG ARENA! Bill might be an amazing horseman who has done amazing things with films, TV Documentaries etc etc - the list is endless and I know its daunting to try to face up to such a great horseman ... but you know what... he is AMAZING and completely humble with anyone willing to learn. He will just watch for a bit - and he sums up the situation, for yourself and the horse - and he knows exactly where you are at, and what steps to take next. He never ever throws too much at you and you are never left feeling daunted, you feel like youve kicked goals! (watching him in action makes me set my bar pretty high now, but I kick the small goals that are possible for me). I was nervous as anything taking Cooper out there - Ive been there numerous times before but this was the time I was finally going to see how close we were to getting Zoe going - I hadnt ridden him in over a week, and I didnt know how hed go considering hes a live alone pony. I told myself - get my pony on and off the float and we go from there - Im in the best place to find out! And of course I over worried.... He assessed, he got me working the horse, he got zoe in a safe round yard and he showed me what safe and reasonable goals we can already achieve with this pony! Next thing I know shes riding Cooper safely out in the Arena and I feel like we have kicked some serious goals - we just needed someone with his knowledge to tell us and confirm that it was OK to take that step. I know what our next goals are and they are achieveable - Bill never sets unachieveable goals and doesnt expect things of you that you cant handle. Ive come home, thrilled we are on the right track and giving me that extra leap of faith - my ride this afternoon was full of excellent outcomes and thats all Bill wants anyone to do. So whatever stage you are at - whether it be nervous to ride, worried your horse has a bad habit, a horse that is nervous or spooky out of an arena, right up to wanting to learn how to have some serious fun with working cows, or getting into serious competition level - consider having a session with Bill - cause whether its an issue with the horse or rider he will help you though it - WHATEVER stage you are at - no judgement, just goal kicking. If you want to chat to me further about what might be holding you back from taking this leap - send me an inbox - Id love to chat! Im an every day Joe Bloggs achieving the simple goals I want to and having a blast of fun along the way - and I am - Thanks to Bill & Barb xx So if you can get your horse on and off a float - dont over think it beyond that - get it to Bill & Barbs place at Willougby Way and whatever level you are at Bill will help you out! (ring and book first lol). BTW.... they are having a clinic this weekend, if they have any spots left, I would highly recommend you take a leap and just go - at his clinics he individualises each person and their horse down - so if you think you are worried about riding alongside of people who have far more riding experience than you... dont stress it... he sets individual tasks for everyone to work towards over the weekend and you look at those with skills and you aim to be like them someday xx Whoever read to the end - phew well done!
