To all my Facebook friends who are not Brazilian: I am sorry if - TopicsExpress

To all my Facebook friends who are not Brazilian: I am sorry if I am going against my own believes of not mixing friendship and work with politics. I know the vast majority of my friends here on the social network have nothing to do with Brazil. But as the saying goes: You can take the girl out of the country but you cant take the country away from the girl. It has been a decade I live in North America, I love it here but I care deeply for my country and its people, my people. It has been 12 years the party of workers (PT) has held the presidency in Brazil. All they did in the last 12 years was to create an environment where people are not rewarded for their hard work, but praised for their laziness. Brazilians are hard-workers, creative, talented people. And all this government has done was to encourage people to sit back on their buts and enjoy a welfare policy. This government stagnated the economy; made the overall production plummet; assassinated the public health system (which I may admit was not doing too well before either); cooked books to show better economical and financial advancement than really exists; amplified the bureaucracy in the country in order to have more opportunities to embezzle public money; destroyed the reputation of our most important asset, Petrobras; and so many other atrocities I would need to write hundreds of pages to describe all. It revolts me to see the country it could have been, being what it is now! Violence, corruption, carelessness with the environment are all synonyms to this government. Today is a very important day for the future of this beautiful country; we held presidential elections in Brazil! I’ve been using the social network to voice my political and social concerns over the last few days. For those of you who couldn’t care less to this issue, please forgive me for the interruption on your “News Feed”. I may say right away that I will keep on posting the same kind of comments for the next 3 weeks. It looks like we will have a second turn on elections. In Brazil if the leading candidate does not have 50% + 1 vote when all the votes are counted, the final decision is taken to the ballots again, 3 weeks later, between the first and second most voted candidates. As of now, 94% of the votes were counted, the actual president has 41% of the valid votes and the second contender has 34%. That is terrific news! Means Brazilian people have 3 weeks to think over their choices, get informed and hopefully decide they don’t want PT to stay in power for 4 more years. All the way up here, in Canada, I pray that the reason will take over corruption and we will be able to change the destiny of 220 million people. So bear with me if in the middle of my Dairy Cattle posts you see many “out of context” ones until October the 26th. Wishing you all a great week!
