To all my “friends” out there in social media, if I can knock - TopicsExpress

To all my “friends” out there in social media, if I can knock on every single one of your doors and speak to you in person, I would. I’d do it just so you can see that I’m human and need your help. I’d do it to figure out whether you yourself have an ounce of humanity. To all of you who so proudly save cats and dogs from rescue shelters, I’d ask you to do the same for MY people. Yes, MY PEOPLE. If you hadn’t noticed, they are being killed. They are being murdered every day. For the lucky ones that are still alive, they have no clean water, because Israel wont let them have any. It’s really a big deal. This isn’t new. It’s been happening for years. But now, you not only see it on television, I’m showing it to you. Why? Because I AM BEGGING YOU to help ME. See, the people being murdered in Gaza, the people losing their homes in the West Bank, the people that are under a humiliating occupation, are MY PEOPLE, the Palestinians. And it breaks my heart that you’re not helping. It’s easy for you to save an animal, and honestly, I respect you for that. But I’m asking you, begging you, please acknowledge that MY PEOPLE are worth saving at least just as much. I’m not asking for a lot. I’m only asking for you to speak up. For all my non-Palestinian and non-Arab friends, the fact is your voices are more effective than mine in the United States. Your congressman will listen to you before they listen to me. But you’re not doing anything. I promise you that while it’s happening “over there”, it’s effecting ME AND MY FAMILY right here. Many of my family members and my wife’s family members, are living under a brutal and illegal Israeli occupation. I promise you that they are good people and wouldn’t hurt anyone. I promise you that if you ever wanted to visit Palestine, they would greet you in their homes with open arms. They’d even beg you to stay longer than your planned visit. I’m not asking for much. If you’re afraid to act, or if you have certain reservations as to who is at fault, at the very least, be human and care about the children in Gaza. At least keep them in your prayers. I believe that the majority of my friends are good people. But it does me no good if I can’t depend on you when my people are suffering and being murdered. Trust me, I know I’m no better than you. I know that it’s easy to glance and walk away. I’ve been guilty of the same. I’ve learned of other people’s suffering around the world and didn’t act. Whether it was in Africa, Burma, Afghanistan, Iraq, Tibet, and so many places, I glanced and unfortunately walked away. Because it was “over there”. But at least I did say prayer. And I would do the same for you. I pray that you never have the pain and sorrow that my people have gone through and are going through right now, and I promise you that I will never again glance and walk away at anyone’s suffering. Because those of us that do nothing are the problem. If you have any questions, just ask. If you ever need anything from me, just ask. God bless you and your families.
