To all my friends that think I have a chicken addiction...This is chicken math. Chicken owners use chicken math to keep track of how many chickens they have. Dont believe me? Ask any other crazy chicken lady in your life. Heres how it works... Free chickens dont count Chicks dont count as they are just fast outdoor dust bunnies Hens that arent laying dont count...chickens lay eggs Roosters dont count because, again, chickens lay eggs Ornamentals dont count as they are just lawn decor...think plastic pink flamingos Bantams dont count because they are just big chicks, and chicks are just fast outdoor dust bunnies A meat bird counts as a negative 1 (-1) because once sent to freezer camp, you have to replace it Laying hens count as half a chicken because they are basically just a storage facility for eggs ....so I have 3 chicks, 5 roos, 4 laying hens, 1 male guinea (not a chicken and is male so roo?), a set of ducks (not chickens), 8 ladies in waiting...so I only have 2 chickens...wait, 3 of those roos will go to freezer camp soon, so that would equal out to I have -1 chickens...so I need to buy 2 more just to have one chicken, right?
