To all of our amazing Scouting Fathers out there-WE COULD NOT DO WHAT WE DO WITHOUT YOU! Though you may be known to some by your scouting titles: Scoutmaster, Cubmaster etc, the most important role you will ever have first and foremost is DAD. Today is your day-HAPPY FATHERS DAY! HISTORY NUGGET-We all know that Lord Baden Powell founded the Boy Scouts of America but have you ever wondered who taught him the Scouting way that inspired him to do so? He is also the man that some call the Father of Scouting. Frederick Russell Burnham DSO (May 11, 1861 – September 1, 1947) was an American scout and world traveling adventurer. He is known for his service to the British South Africa Company, then the British Army in colonial Africa, and for teaching woodcraft to Robert Baden-Powell, becoming one of the inspirations for the founding of the international Scouting Movement.
