To all the young women out there who grew up like me: Aside - TopicsExpress

To all the young women out there who grew up like me: Aside from the fact that I JUST DONT HAVE IT TO WEAR, I dress in a way that overall reflects my modest view about myself, as well as my shaky self-image. The majority of the time, unless I HAVE to, you will find me in either sweats, or jeans & a turtleneck (yes, they still make them). I get dressed up (with what little dress clothes I have), and I feel good WHILE Im WEARING IT... but when I come home, I go back into sweats. One of my church sisters jokingly said to me, if you wore heels more, youd get a man. I know she wasnt intending anything mean by it, but it hit hard. We are talking about a woman who for SO long was perfectly happy wearing jerseys & jeans, who lounges in sweats, and who HATED to wear dresses/skirts & heels. There was a time where I was VERY showy with my dress; fitting, slits, low cut, and so forth. Although I cant wear HIGH heels to begin with, STILL!!! I know I have somewhat of a figure, but I cant see past the weight/deformities. (frustrates those close to me) Ive been accused of hating to be a woman, youre a tomboy, why dont you dress like a LADY, etc. I AM a lady! I am WELL AWARE Im a woman! But its PARTLY about #mindset, self-image & confidence, as well as RESOURCES!! IF you dont HAVE it to wear, what can you do?? God made ALL of us beautiful! I just have to not only get to the point where I see it in ME, but also where I start reflecting it in my OUTER self! #someday
