To all those people who view suicide as a cowardly or selfish act, be thankful you have not suffered as those who have chosen this path. People say suicide is a choice. You are right, it is a choice to put a gun in your mouth or wrap the noose around your neck, or to take the blade to your wrist. However, ask yourself this question. Have you ever done something because in your heart and head you believed it was the best possible thing to do? That is what suicide is to people who suffer from depression. At those times when it gets so bad all you want to do is sit alone in the dark and pretend you dont exist. I myself have had such moments. Even been on the doorstep to the end. I have 2 great friends that physically restrained me from completing my goal. Its not about being selfish and not wanting to share your life with the rest of the world or cause pain and hurt to those that love you. It is about feeling like nothing you will ever do for the rest of your life will ever justify your existence. In those moments you devalue yourself so much that you believe in your heart and in your head that the best course of action is for you not to be around. That everyone and everything will be far better off with you gone. Depression is real. Next time you see someone down or sad, ask them whats wrong, lend an ear, a shoulder to cry on, sometimes showing you care about that person is all it takes. You never know, you might save a life.
