To all who are just now getting the link to this Tata justice page and to all those who have been on this page. I am sorry you have to be shifted over here but the advocate who started the original page for Roxan has taken it over again after she walked away and left Roxan with the page and the massive drama fest it had turned into. Then she came back and took the page over again after it had been cleaned up and calmed down. Now the page under her direction and that of Freeze Dont Shoot leader Donna Earley has once again turned into a drama fest. The page is blaming and bashing Tatas owner. This is something I never ever allow on a page I run. I admin for 31 pages for dogs that have been shot by police. I have worked with this issue since 1976 and I have one goal.. to get each case into a court room. Ultimately this is the only place justice is ever found for the person whos civil rights have been violated when a family member is killed by those we SHOULD be able to trust the most. I believe this battle can only be won if it is fought from all sides at once. Marches/protests yes they are important to bring public awareness that yes you town/state has this problem also to the public that lives there. Having a rally on a weekday when people are there to see what the protest is about is very important. It wont help a lot in the court room however but will bring public support to the cause and is an embarrassment to officials. This only works if the rally is held during the day and during the week when officials are in the office. Roxan will need help in setting this up in her area and will probably need to be done a few times. Petitions are also good in the same way. Somehow on the original page there had been 5 separate petitions started. I will be picking just one of them to repost here so more people can sign it. This is some thing that can physically be handed to them to help sway a decision for officer reprimand. Yes an officer can be reprimanded for going to a wrong address and discharging a weapon on arrival. This is going to cost the city dearly and ultimately the tax payers of the community. Im sure this isnt the ONLY law suit they are facing. They need to know we the people have had enough with our tax dollars being wasted on law suits. We also want our officers help responsible for their personal wrong doing like everyone else inn America is on the job or off. Then there is TRAINING of officers. This training can be used for or against you and the difference comes in officer consequences. If officers still face NO consequences for his/her actions the training will be used to further describe why the officer just HAD to shoot a dog. Training helps an officer feel safer on the job and more able to control his environment and to de-escalate a situation. He can avoid being injured when on duty. HOWEVER if the officer is not wearing a body camera there will be no proof of what happened. That officer can shoot and kill your dog and again it will be your word against a police officer with no way for you to back it up and with the training that officer can use that knowledge to make a more accurate reason he had to shoot. Next is in a court room. These cases usually involve your 4th amendment civil rights. If thee is not money lost (seemingly the only language government understands) there are no consequences for the elected leaders who actually do control police in your town. As you can see this issue must be tackled from many fronts IE body cameras, training for a humane response to pet dogs,civil rights law suits, officer being held personally responsible and facing charges including criminal charges if applicable, protests and petitions. No one singe thing can change this. Even a Federal law for this training for police can fix this. It must be fought from many fronts at the same time. I run / admin 31 pages for dogs that have been shot by police. I am trying to fight this and trying to talk to politicians and attorneys to get that Federal law written. I try to speak to politicians about getting that law written but I know that a law to mandate training for all officers is only one part of a puzzle to be put in place. Thank you for listening Kathy
