To answer a couple questions posed to me: 1. Parking plans? As I see it, we have a shortage of spots due to the renovations going on. I would like to continue the current pricing system for parking tags, and I would like to push for more parking spots. Unfortunately, there is only so much we can do as students since we do not allocate the college funds. If we as students decide it is an important enough issue, I would suggest we could get parents involved as the college would be far more likely to appease angry parents than students. That being said, if we decide parking is an important issue, I am totally on board with pushing for more parking. 2. Making Senate worthwhile. My biggest goal would be to make Student Senate worthwhile. Currently, I feel it is largely a waste of time because there is a disconnect between what the student population cares about and what those who engage in Senate care about (i.e. Swept Fund allocation and campus politics). I would like to bridge that communication gap by engaging the rest of the student population and finding out what issues matter to everyone. I also want to focus on making Senate meetings relevant for student organization representatives. Overall, my goal is to make Senate meaningful and representative of the entire student body. We need to set realistic goals and we need to decide what we want Senate to be. A president should be responsible for truthfully representing their constituents, and I would accomplish this by hearing from students what the real issues are on campus and discussing realistic options we have to solve these problems. I do not have anything specific to bring up because I plan on moving forward on issues we all have, not ones that only I am passionate about. If you have any other questions or would like me to specify something, please ask!
