To avoid becoming Thailand, where the country is split along regions which coincide with income, language and the rural and urban divides, we shall do well to narrow the gaps between urban and rural populations. One way is to forge closer cooperation between the urban workers and rural farmers. The sample in Sweden in the middle of the previous century is an example of a coalition forged on pragmatic policies beyond fossilized ideologies and prejudices.
