To be honest, Im torn on who to vote for in the Senate race this - TopicsExpress

To be honest, Im torn on who to vote for in the Senate race this Tuesday. On one hand you have Alison Lundergan Grimes, a democrat who would be the first ever female senator from Kentucky. She has spent a lot of her time around eastern Kentucky, including right here in Salyersville. She handed out food to people who needed it at Salyersville Grade School after the tornado hit. She seems intelligent and I agree with a lot of what she says. The biggest issue though is that its not entirely clear where she stands on gun rights, and thats one issue that is a make or break for me. Shes said some things, and released a little commercial that kind of reminded me of Obamas photo op with the million dollar shotgun to combat claims that he was anti-gun, but I havent heard any really clear statements about where she stands on the issue, and thats worrying to me. Even if you go to her website, that is one of the big issues thats not listed on her Issues page. I will never vote for an anti-gun candidate, because thats one right that ensures that we the people can protect ourselves and our families from harm, even if that harm is one day coming from our own government. Shes tossed out a few pro-gun comments in her commercials here and there in an attempt to distance herself from Barack Obama, but at the end of the day she has no official stance on the matter, and thats concerning to me. On the other hand, you have Mitch McConnell. He is endorsed by both the National Rifle Association and Senator Rand Paul, both of which I like and respect. However, Mitch Mcconnell is playing political dirty pool. He has sent out dishonest, sudo official looking mailers, his wife sits on the board of Bloomberg Philanthropies, a group working to kill the coal industry, and guided by none other than that POS Michael Bloomberg, who is a well known anti-gun politician who has dedicated his life to using money to influence political opinion; and while all this is going on hes touting that hes pro-gun and pro-coal. However, if he is re-elected, he stands to become the most powerful Republican in the senate, which could mean good things for Kentucky, and could mean protections for certain conservative values that I hold dear. Hes a well known conservative who is poised to do a lot of good things if hes re-elected. However, I have some serious doubts after doing a little bit of research on him, especially just realizing over the course of writing this that hes associated with Michael Bloomberg. If nothing else puts me off about him, the man just looks wimpy, and does not have an aggressive tone of voice. Any time I hear him speak his voice just makes me want to yell at the television for him to shut up. I find it hard to believe that if he is re-elected, hell have the stature and chutzpah to actually effect any real meaningful change in Washington.
