To be honest, there is no way on earth that they would have successfully farmed the amount of calls that would have totally (and obviously) congested the network. The odds of getting through are as great as powerball. Not everyone has a fair crack at the whip as it would depend on where the calls were being answered, what carrier the 1300 number was hosted by, exchange capacity, what carrier you were with etc… No infrastructure would ever exist to take all these calls. That being said, the promoter should have realised this. With such congestion caused, I feel sorry for the potential person trying to call “000” for an emergency at the time if they were routed via the same exchange as the answering call centre for this promotion!
