To be killed...UNKNOWN STATUS Manhattan Center My name is GARY. My Animal ID # is A1018920. I am a male blue pit bull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old. I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 10/28/2014 from NY 10025, owner surrender reason stated was ABANDON. MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT 11/01/2014 Exam Type OBSERVATION - Medical Rating is 4 NC - SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is AVERAGE, Weight 57.0 LBS. BAR, nice dog!, if excited may jump up- will need additional training ...but great for ACC dog!...Will kennel up into a clean cage taken on the walk this AM and did not pass stool Pain meds given by tech later and asked that dog be walked If no signs of poop today....will clean out rectum with anesthesia and decide by palpation if Sx can be done at ACC. Later in the day passed a large pile of loose stool with frank blood. ---lactulose (enulose) worked! 0.7cc Telazol used then ISO at 2% via ET tube rectum evacuated- large hard pieces of stool removed...diverticulum/herinal sac felt smooth without evidence of ruptured holes through herniated sac. Antipated to take the dog to Sx to repair the perineal hernia, but there was too much blood/compromised rectal tissue from pressure and irritation of compressed stool. -treatment of the eroded tissue with liquid sulcrafate to coat. NH placement needed at once - GP can do a perineal hernia repair....if stays at ACC will need to be done when tissue becomes less irritated. Needs a good rescue with a good vet! Tx: Injectables given upon recovery: 3cc Cerenia given SC 1.4cc Hydro 2.6 cc Baytril 100 Add ons to do list: stool softening with lactulose enulose) 10 cc BID x 10d leash walking BID Baytril 100 2.6cc SID 6 days Buprinex switch to Hydro 1.4 cc SC BID 10 d Medically treat until minimal blood in stool. Will need Sx soon after placement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10/28/2014 PET PROFILE MEMO Animal is a stray, was friendly upon intake. 11/01/2014 WEB MEMO A volunteer writes: When we dont feel well we want to be tucked into a soft bed, have someone bring us soup and stroke our brow telling us well feel better soon. Gary wants that too. Hes a gorgeous, slate gray boy, who just wants someone to love him and tell him that everything will be OK. As we exited the building he jumped up to play with the leash but was easily distracted and redirected and then was a perfect gentleman. Hes likely housetrained, and shows off good leash manners. Posing for pictures, he focuses on the treat in my hand, making soft eye contact and taking them eagerly. Gary will also show off his skill at catching treats on the fly gulping them down quickly. Off leash in the yard, he lays his head in my lap, closing his eyes as I pet him, and nudging my hand when I stop. Sliding down, he gives me his belly for some stroking and lays by my feet with his cute belly up. Gary doesnt feel well at the moment, and needs someone to tuck him in, stroke his brow and tell him hell be feeling better soon. He needs you.............. 10/31/2014 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - AVERAGE Exam Type BEHAVIOR Gary pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment - soft body, wagging tail. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Gary was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. He took the toy and rawhide away but had soft body language. Gary was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Gary did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessors hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1.
