To be perfectly honest, it boggles my mind that some believers say that because salvation is by grace, God requires nothing of us once we are saved other than to believe Him. As Nancy often says to me when confronted with the latest doctrinal deviation, What do they do with the Bible? Yes, salvation is by grace and we cannot earn it in a million lifetimes, and yes, Jesus says to His Jewish audience in John 6 that the work of God is to believe the One He sent. But that is hardly the only work God requires of us as His people (again, Im not talking about how to be saved; Im talking about what the Lord requires of us as His saved people), and throughout the New Testament, our godly conduct and good works are the proof (not merit) of our salvation. In short, God requires that His children be obedient -- and this is our great calling and our delight. Who can argue with this
