To be sure everyone knows how we work at Lucky Paws we wanted to - TopicsExpress

To be sure everyone knows how we work at Lucky Paws we wanted to post. All new dogs coming in from shelters are evaluated and held for 14 days to be sure they are not ill. All dogs receive vaccines, any necessary medical treatment and are evaluated by fosters who know the breeds. We will begin taking applications but dogs are placed where we believe they will have a forever home that is best for both. We are a non profit but all animals receive vet care that is more costly for some than others. The controversy over adoption fees is one that we like to address. We could not continue to rescue without charging adoption fees. Cats, senior dogs and less popular breeds cost money to save. We typically adopt them out for less than our costs. For this reason, we do have higher fees for purebred animals and puppies/kittens. We do not get them in often and need them to help pay for the others. All Lucky Paws dogs receive vet care, are spayed/neutered and get the best care we can give. Some much more when needed. This is all very costly and we have bills. While some may disagree with our adoption fees, we have found this practice to be successful and it aligns with our mission of reducing the numbers of homeless pets by spaying and neutering. We hope this helps explain our process and how adoption fees are determined.
