To celebrate John Peel Day, weve made a break from tradition and are sharing the first hour of our radio show, Insurgent Souls, broadcast last night on Barricade Radio. I was lucky enough to know John personally, and he was a massive influence for me growing up. Both The Owl and I owe him a great debt for the music he brought us, and the sense of community we felt listening to his show. Here we present 10 tracks, all by Peels favourite bands and artists. The first 9 are classics, whilst the 10th represents the work of one of Peels favourites since his passing. Do give the show a listen - its full of heartfelt anecdotes and stories about the songs, plus of course, some absolutely killer music. We also experienced some technical issues whilst broadcasting hour one, and weve tidied these up and rerecorded a couple of the missing links.
