To celebrate my leave for college in a few days, my dad took me to the movies yesterday. Watching the movies is certainly a pleasurable experience. Although few words are spoken at the movies, there is a special bonding time while staying at the movies. Through silence, one can still find interaction with ones companions, whether that is through a laugh, a gasp, a chill, watching the movies can bring out the best in people (at least if its a good movie). But nonetheless, movies are a fun experience. . Yesterday, I watched The Hundred-Foot Journey. I will be brief: the movie is about a boys love of food, which makes him chase a career as a cook with hopes of becoming a chef. After emigrating from Mumbai to England to France, he finally realizes his dreams of becoming a chef after cooking for his own family restaurant to a one star michelin restaurant, eventually getting two stars there and pursing the godly three michelin stars. The movie, though somewhat cliche, is a feel good movie worth watching. Lead actor Helen Mirren as Madame Mallory is certainly a joy to watch, and the directing is smooth as silk. Slick, the movie is a metaphor for blending somewhat bland ingredients (a somewhat hackneyed plot, plain dialogue, and ordinary characters), adding the spices of great directing and music to make a great dish. . There are few movie theaters near the University of Rhode Island, and even fewer chances Im going to be able to watch new releases there. While certainly not a melancholy experience, Im gonna miss going to the movies with you, dad!
