To clarify, I have over the past 30 some years had many close friends who were not only fine coaches, but fine teachers as well. I was lucky in that those coaches I worked with, for the most part, appreciated my students hard work as we understood what it took to be a fine athlete. I think silly, uneducated comments come from a few folks who were possibly not successful themselves. I love sports, and appreciate what it takes to excel in that activity as well as the arts. That being said I have to add one more log to the fire. I, at one time sang with some of the finest men in this area. They practiced weekly, and performed for a great many activities in our area. We very seldom got any recognition in our local news. Not only did the group( Heart Of Kentucky Mens Chorus) usually perform for free, but returned the money that was made to local charities every year. I guess it was more news worthy to report on someone putting a few shingles on a roof somewhere rather than folks out there trying to serve their community. OK now Im done.
