To (debt collection agency) Your agent xxxx was obnoxious and insulting during a phone conversation I just had with him. Most of the conversation went smoothly; I was ringing to enquire my outstanding balance as you hadn’t sent me a statement… this has now been rectified. While on the phone to xxxx I also offered to increase my payments. That also went smoothly. Just as I was ready to say goodbye, xxxx said “I see you’re in a professional job” in a jolly voice. I said “yes I’m a professional, that’s correct” and he replied “so you’re an expert in your field except with anything to do with your finances”. I politely but firmly informed xxxx that the underlying reason for my current debts is a long term illness which left me unable to work and without an income for nearly three months. His attitude, whether he intended it to be jovial or not, was in very very poor taste. As you can see from my details below, I work in a health organisation. Treating people who have had traumatic experiences, which I’m sure quite a number of your debt clients will have experienced, with such disdain is very poor form. Perhaps xxxx needs further professional development. I hope (company) takes some constructive action on this matter, perhaps sensitivity training, or mental health training would be useful for him. I hope to hear back from you regarding how you intend to action this. Kind regards, Fleur
