To ensure everyone has a great experience through their SBC - TopicsExpress

To ensure everyone has a great experience through their SBC membership there are a few things to keep in mind once you officially open an SBC Bank Account with us: 1) If you contact a Southern Barter Club member about a purchase, youre expecting to pay in exchange tender. Members who contact you are expecting the same thing. With special permission, we do allow some partial cash transactions, but not without prior approval and we charge a cash transaction fee when we help you earn cash revenue. 2) Members do NOT have unlimited funds available. Just as you wouldnt accept a credit card today without processing it to ensure payment, DO NOT sell a product or service without first making sure that the fellow member is in good standing and has enough money in their account (or can access a line of credit) to pay for it. The SBC Exchange is a barter bank. Just as in using a credit card, if you dont have a credit line or funds in your account, you cant use it for payment. You can call us for approval, process it online to ensure funds are available or call the toll free number on your SBC card and on our website. 3) The SBC Exchange acts as a broker, bringing two clients together to form a deal and then processes payment for that deal. Members dont work for us and we have no control over their business practices, but we feel VERY strongly about and enforce our membership code of ethics. All members agree to an sign it upon joining the barter Exchange. If there is ever a misunderstanding with another member, please contact us immediately. Its normally just a matter of education or a misunderstanding that can be worked out, but we cant do that if we dont know about it. DO NOT ask for or pay for a product or service in cash without prior approval from the Exchange. DO make sure payment is understood before exchange takes place or call us. 4) Only about 25% of what is actually available through the Exchange is listed on the online trading floor. Many of our members are busy and dont update their listings. Just because its not there, doesnt mean we dont have it available. Dig in the online directory then call your SBC broker. 5) It takes time to bring in a new member. We often have to meet with several in a particular industry to find the right fit for the Barter Exchange and someone we fill will uphold our ethical standards. If you have a need, we may be able to fill it right away, but the more lead time you give us, the better chance we will be able to provide it for you. We always welcome referrals and thank you with a referral fee in trade dollars payable into your SBC account when the referral joins SBC. 6) Exchange offerings are constantly changing. All members, including you, have the option to offer whatever they want into the Exchange. Some members may only offer things at certain times of the year, when they have down time, some may offer up to a certain amount then wait until they have a need to offer others. Some offer everything they sell year-round. If you let us know what you need as far in advance as possible, we will work to see if a fellow member has it available or work to bring it into the Exchange for you. But, as in anything that is limited quantity, its not always possible. 7) Exchange tender is usually new found money: spending power, meaning were usually using up some down-time or unused space or excess inventory that youd otherwise lose the value of completely. Have fun with it, spend it on something you might not normally spend cash on. Do extra advertising, transfer it into a personal account and have a much needed vacation, splurge on your employees. Yes, its legal tender and has to be tracked, but you can still be very creative with it and do it completely legally. In the process, youll end up growing your business, have more appreciated employees, thankful customers and/or a spouse or family member who is able to enjoy something special. Ask us for ideas. 8) Remember, youre NOT giving anything away. You receive full dollar value for anything you sell and can spend it as such. For EX: Instead of paying $500 cash for advertising, you sell something to a member (who probably wouldnt make the purchase in cash, so found money) for $500 and pay the $500 Exchange tender for the advertising. You will probably also receive the extra benefit of new people sampling your products or services, but thats not the main reason for Exchange membership. The main reason is that unless youre operating at 100% capacity right now, your THROWing money out the door or youre selling it at a deep discount. You can never reclaim the dollar value of that time or or unsold inventory. As an SBC trade Exchange member, youre selling your product or service at FULL retail value received in trade dollars. Happy trading!!!
