To everyone: I don’t send many messages out because I’m not - TopicsExpress

To everyone: I don’t send many messages out because I’m not too good on a computer (My daughter is actually guiding me through this one.) I would like you all to know that our family meeting with Mr. Spanos, director of the airport, his wife and Mr. Nalbone ended without a positive outcome. The only solution they offered us was that they will notify all incoming aircraft of our horse farm as a sensitive area so as to keep at a reasonable height and try to have helicopters go around. They also said they could not find record that a helicopter landed on their runway on that day and time of the incident. The key word which they thought we would not catch was landed. I responded by saying I didn’t say landed, I said flew over low and in the runway flight pattern. There was no response to that. As we left with no feeling of satisfaction, I turned to look back at the three of them as they were entering their building laughing as to go on with their lives. We still hurt. From the bottom of my stairs I hear my wife crying to sleep. I have protected her and my whole family for years. I feel guilt about my failure to Jazz. I think about when we purchased this beautiful piece of property 11 years ago so that all our horses would have a real nice home. In the last 4 months, since the opening of the expansion, Jazz has been in 2 other incidences. Phone calls were made to the airport with no response from anyone. The first time, she was spooked by a helicopter, ran through the fence and got tangled in the neighbor’s sheet metal and barbed wire. Another time she was spooked by a jet and she went through the fencing again hit a gentlemen’s truck and laid in a ditch for few minutes stunned. Finally, the ultimate one is a helicopter again which resulted in her death. Not a day goes by that I don’t relive that moment as I looked into her eyes as if she was asking me for help. I felt that I let her down as her protector. I held her head into my lap and told her I’m sorry. I am just a blue collar worker and cannot afford to take on a law battle against this federal funded airport. But what I do have is the people. If we email congress and senators of New York to let them know of this loss and have the expansion closed so our other two boys can have peace in what was once a nice place for them to roam. We thank you all for the support you have shown Jazz and our family. Sincerely Rick Cain County and state officials info : Cathy Young - [email protected] District Office Westgate Plaza 700 W.
