To follow up on our post from yesterday - some good, CAC-related news: [email from Margaret Lynch, Compliance Manager/Asst Secretary to the Conference Arrangements Committee] "The Conference Arrangements Committee met this afternoon to hear appeals from organisations whose contemporary motions had been ruled out. Following appeals by several CLPs, I am pleased to inform you that all but two of the HOUSING contemporary motions have been reinstated and will now go forward to the Priorities Ballot on Sunday 22 September. The two exceptions are the motions from Brent Central CLP and Darlington CLP which remain ruled out. Please pass on this information to your Conference Delegate(s). All delegates will vote in the Priorities Ballot on Sunday, choosing up to 8 subjects to be debated at Conference. Delegates from CLPs and affiliates with subjects successful in the Priorities Ballot will need to attend a Compositing Meeting on Sunday evening in the Hilton Hotel. Further details will be announced at the end of the Sunday afternoon session of Conference." The optimist in me wants to believe the Labour hierarchy are finally starting to listen to grassroots members. The cynic might say that perhaps the Labour Party equivalent of ATOS are doing the initial assessments. In any case, well done to all those CLPs that appealed.
