To get the regional communities more involved with the big Nevada burn Burning Man set up a way for regional groups to apply for art grants which would have regional art placed around the man. This started in 2011 with the CORE (centre of regional effigies) and ran until 2013. It was then replaced in 2014 by The Suok (linked to the carnavansary theme), and for 2015 it will be The Midway (burningman.org/event/brc/2015-art-theme/) an old school circus/fair ground type of thing, (read the description). To be involved in the Midway a letter of intent needs to be submitted by next Friday the 19th, and multiple applications can be submitted but I get the impression that one spot per regional group would be the ideal way to go. If you are intending to apply for a Midway grant/placement please respond here and we can work together to get a strong application in. If you have not heard about this process but now suddenly feel the creative juices flowing then also post here we’ll start the conversation. I think it would be great to get a group of people from Aus involved in this. Advantages of doing this would be, solid participation in the event, and a certain amount of allocated tickets. Access to tickets is a big one for some people :)
