To maintain a healthy body its imperative to eat natural sources of plants and animals and avoid processed foods (e.g., sugar products, grains, hydrogenated fats and the many other processed foods). Grains, while a staple food for years and believed to be healthy, should be eaten very sparingly because they stimulate an excessive release of insulin and are far less nutritious than vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and animal foods. A diet emphasizing grains inhibits fat metabolism, hinders one from consuming more nutritious plant and animal foods and paves the way for serious disease. Today, three-quarters of the American population will eventually die of heart disease and cancer whereas in the early 1900s and before these diseases were VERY RARE. The diet in those early years was mainly whole plant foods grown in mineral rich soils and meat from pastured animals along with RAW dairy products. There was NO CONSUMPTION of refined grains while whole grains were consumed in modest amounts.
