To make this group active again, Im gonna post a short Bio on a successful del mar clan member every week. This is the first feature for this week. Engr. Magdaleno B. del Mar Jr. – Mister Philippines 1963, High ranking engineer, & Public Servant Born: January 19, 1937 Magdaleno was Mister Philippines 1963 and a very successful electrical engineer. Aside from being Mister Philippines, he used to be the Operations Head of East Asia Power Corp. (1994-1998) and Power dept. Manager of Atlas Consolidated Mining & Development Corp (1998-2001), the highest position in the Power Plant. After managing power plants, he became a highly paid consultant to different power/energy companies. He is also internationally trained in the electrical engineering field by attending seminars and workshops abroad in the following countries: U.S.A, Japan, France & Finland. Being a natural leader, he headed organizations like the Cebu Weight lifting & Body Building Association as its President in 1964, Vice President of the Toledo Chapter of Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) in 1985, and Vice President of Naga City Jaycees. He also has a love for public service, winning 3 terms as the Barangay Captain of Tuyan, Naga City. Throughout his barangay captain career, he has implemented many important projects. In the 2001 local elections, he ran for Vice mayor of Naga City but lost to a slim margin to his opponent, he was under the political party of former Governor Lito Osmeña. He is currently a Barangay councilor in Tuyan, Naga City. His other achievements include: Mister Cebu 1957 and Mister Visayas 1959.
