To most folks The Comedy Catch is just a place. Its a building on Brainerd Road; a neatly arranged pile of brick, steel and wood. Thats really all it is. But its alot more than that; its people too. Really good people. Finest kind. Those of you whove worked there; whether comedians or staff; those of you who frequent the place and grace us with your company, or those of you who work for our vendors know that. Were good people. Were a family. Sometimes dysfunctional, sometimes cranky but always loving. La Famiglia. Weve got good hearts, ya know. I write these words tonight with a heart heavier than Jupiter. Our beloved Show Room bartender Boo Carlisle had hip replacement surgery this past Thursday morning. The surgery went well but sometime that afternoon something went wrong. Sometime that afternoon Boo stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. He was out for several minutes; perhaps as long as twenty; we really dont know. The doctors put him into a medically induced coma to stabiliize him and started bringing him out of that coma Friday night. Its a long process; its takes about 12 hours to bring you back. We all hoped that hed be fine but we werent so lucky. His brain activity has ceased. Hes alive but machines are doing all the work for him. His prognosis is not good. Please, whichever deity it is that you pray to, be it Jesus, Yahweh, Vishnu, a Giant Sequoyah or a bloody stinking lava lamp; pray. Pray that my friend, my brother and the finest man I know can find peace and perhaps something miraculous can happen.
