To my Brothers and Sisters it is with a heavy heart that I post this, a dear friend and Golden Rakkasan has passed away see below on details. My wife and I had the PLEASURE of knowing Bob and Jane and he was a gentle soul. He served with the 187 CRT during the Korean War and had 2 Combat Jumps with them. I ask that you please forward and share this information with all who were Rakkasans, Jane always made cookies and Rakkasan Cards for the Regiment and I know that she is lost at this time for she so loved Bob. I am waiting for my wife to wake up to break the news to her and we will be calling and more than likely leaving for Asheville, NC where they live 6 hours from here. The memorial service will be at the North Carolina Veterans Cemetery at Black Mountain NC on Monday, November 10, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers. donations can be made to Veterans Restoration and Transitional Housing, 1329 Tunnel Road, Ashville NC 28805.
