To my Dearest Sisters, whom I love so much. Ok for the record, - TopicsExpress

To my Dearest Sisters, whom I love so much. Ok for the record, Dad was actually a Democrat in the early days of Lyndon B. Johnson. As time wore on and the lines between Democrat and Republican became blurred, Dad, like so many of the people in the nation, started voting for people on an individual basis rather than a straight ticket. Our nation has gone through extreme growing pains, it has not always made the right decisions on every issue but has prevailed as the go to nation for the weak, the tired and the hungry. Regardless of your political alliance, parties are no where near aligned with where they were when we were young. To vote a straight ticket anymore really limits you in electing the best man for the job. Our Father was the hardest working man I have ever known. Any skills I have I owe to him. He taught me how to hunt/fish/drive a truck/balance a check book/how to tuck in my shirt/shine my shoes/Iron my jeans/be respectful to elders/treat women/clean my nails/sign my name in cursive(just like him)/ride a horse/build a barn/haul hay/lay water line/build barbed wire fences/tie a tie/comb my hair/the use of the words yes sir and yes maam/and on and on and on and on and on.....But the most important thing he ever taught me was how to take up for myself and never let anyone whip my ass. To this day, no one ever has. He taught me how to believe in myself. He taught me that no matter what I wanted to do, just be the best I could be and one day I would own the place. He was John Wayne far as I am concerned. And he did all this while teaching 3 other siblings some of the same things while carrying on a full time job/career and business till the day he died. How many cars did he have to replace, how many tractors did he have to fix after I tore them up. How the hell he found the time to do all this simply astounds me. With all this on his resume, I strongly feel that any bad Dad had in him is far outweighed by the good he did for this family. None of us would be who we are without his influence. Dad made the rough cut while Mom did her best to polish and smooth the edges. What a great job they did. Everyday of my life, I pray to GOD himself that I become half the man my Father was with the wisdom and grace my Mother had. With this said, I would respectfully ask that any past history that might show our family in a less than glowing light be kept in the family and not aired out on public forum such as this. All of you as well as myself OWE this to our parents....... Your Loving Brother. Murl (ByGod) Houston Hennigan, Jr. and damned proud of it.
