To my annoying lil sister, I can’t believe you’re so grown up. You wrote the perfect heartfelt note to me on my last birthday. Soon we would be 10000 miles apart, and celebrating without you didn’t feel quite right. When I read your happy birthday Facebook message, I instantly burst into happy tears in the middle of the canteen, I was blubbering, and everyone turned around to stare. It’s my turn to one-up you now. I hope you read this somewhere in the middle of your lunch break and have an embarrassing cry in public, too. It’s cathartic, try it. Here it goes. Your birthday always makes me nostalgic, cause I didn’t quite get what it meant to be a big sister at first. Everyone cooed over you, and I couldn’t figure out why. I thought you were pretty boring for your first year or two — you didn’t walk, talk, or want to play House with me. What was the big deal? But soon, we learned to get along, and I’m so thankful we did. You’re my best friend. When you were little, you were effervescent, giggly, and so stubborn. I remember a day when you told papa that I bullied you, that was awful. I cried real hard cause papa told me that I should be the one who look after you, but the truth is you are the bully. You had a short, wispy bob, missing almost all of your teeth, and a freckled, button nose. You looked like a kitten. Now, you look like the ultimate lady. You have an edgy haircut and like to wear tight skinny jeans, and you’ve mastered looking totally bored at all times. You’re much shorter than I am, and I refuse to believe you’ll ever grow taller. You can’t -- end of the story.. Haha...I’m the big sister, remember? Your transition from cute little kid to a beautiful young lady was hard. I wanted to keep you small forever. But now that you’re clearly growing up and not stopping, I’m learning to embrace it. Your preschool drawings were adorable in their own way, your english was bad... REAL BAD, but it’s been incredible to watch you blossom and tried real hard to improve your english skills. You are the best actress, dancer and I was not... But you sucks in singing... Lol... But now the song learned to love you! When you ask me if Im going to miss you, I just shrugged and told you NO... But the truth is, Im going to miss you... We been together all my life... Weve been through a lot of good times and bad, but now its really your time to follow your dreams. Id be sad cause soon youll be sending virtual hugs and kisses. Soon well be apart... But i am happy cause soon youll do the laundry, wash the dishes and cook all by yourself (walang bayad na bente!) haha! I love you sisteret! To infinity and beyond! Char!
