To my female friends and family, and the men who have also been affected by this horrible cancer: I was at an appearance a few months back and was approached by Lisa. It was 4 pm, and traffic was at its DC, MD, VA best (congested). Lisa let me know she drove all the way from Virginia, hearing I was at this Mattress Discounters in Greenbelt, Maryland, to ask me a question. Before she asks, she lets me know that she is a Breast Cancer survivor and had heard about my best friend Tina and her fight with Brain Cancer. She asks if my best friend Maraea Christina is doing ok. I rejoice-fully tell her that Tina is doing much better. Lisa is happy to hear this, and begins to cry. I hug her and ask why she is crying. She replies, I drove far and had no idea what you would say if I asked you to emcee and be a part of a Breast Cancer Seminar on October 18… Before she could say anything else, I tell her I am more than happy to do it and to please send me any and all information on it. Her tears turned from unsure and scared to joyful. In that moment, I knew what I agreed to was so small to me, but a world of relief for her.
