To our dear volunteers: Information sharing naman tayo... It - TopicsExpress

To our dear volunteers: Information sharing naman tayo... It has come to our attention and as we have observed, it is true that the implementation of the MC lane on C5 is happening. Let it be known to all that C5 passes through different cities namely: Taguig, Makati, Pasig and Quezon City. And as such, the rules on the creation of laws for the streets is that only the National agency (LTO, DOTC, DPWH) and the LGU, through its ordinances that is approved by the council and the mayor can create such laws... The MMDA or the Metro Manila Mayors Council does not have that power, but can be tasked to implement the said laws... And to update all of you, the case we filed in QC has been dismissed due to an unclear technicality that which we still have to determine... It could be due to a number of causes... Nonetheless, we still intend to pursue this case to court as the law provides us to do so... So the fight aint over... We will bring this back to court... With that said, we are in the process of sending a formal inquiry to all the Cities that these MC lanes have gone through as well as MMDA in search for clarity on its implementation, publication and an official IRR to which we have not seen up to this point... On the other hand, we are also writing an inquiry to DTI to question the status of the Helmet Law where it is within its duty to ensure that all helmets sold in the market is within acceptable standards... We are taking this task because as seen, there are still countless substandard brands and models out in the market and is not being regulated properly... Needless to say, we have been advised that there are those who have been granted BPS status and is enjoying the benefits of allowing helmets to be imported, manufactured and sold in the market to where the standard, quality and effectiveness of these helmets are questionable... While the suppliers of quality and standard abiding helmets are being held in customs pending ICC clearance which, for the life of me, is taking around 3 weeks to process... This creates un necessary costs on top of the helmets before in even becomes available in the stores where we buy them from... It is not just these suppliers who suffer in the process... It is us the consumers who instead of enjoying lower costs and discounts, we are forced to pay for the costs incurred by the delays suffered by the suppliers in getting these shipments into the stores... It is within the right of MRO, its volunteers and the rest of the community to inquire and seek clarification for these issues and our sovereign right to demand to the government the equal protection from the laws and fair implementation of such... And in order for MRO to steadily move forward with its advocacy, projects, missions and what not, we must ensure that we all are clear from irregularities, red tape, corruption and the padrino system... SULONG MRO!!!
