To say Warden Brothers and the councillors of Kings County have made a serious error in judgement and good business management is truly an understatement. The citizens of Kings county have been misled, lied to and misrepresented by their elected Warden and her cronies and toadies. 1. Even with the Waterville Airport land, Michelin Waterville CANNOT compete with their South Carolina counterpart for Michelin N.A. expansion dollars. The plant here is becoming obsolete as has Granton, for the line of tires they produce. Small scale expansion may occur within the plant. But not on the scale the Warden would like you to believe. 2. Relocating the Waterville Airport to 14 Wing Greenwood is NOT AN OPTION. Restrictions on the use of DND land, runways and infrastructure by private aviators and small aviation businesses make it a no go. (Eg: pilots would be required to APPLY for permission to take off and land 48 hours prior, and will not always be granted permission) This is just not realistic for anyone other than an airline with scheduled flights. The Warden leaves out these details when she says that Bagotville and Comox Air Force bases are an example of why Greenwood is now the ONLY option for a once thriving Airport. The third busiest airport in Atlantic Canada! Call your elected councillor and have them explain to you why they would vote to shut down an economically viable Airport that helps drive the local economy and facilitates the opportunity for previous and future generations to become a pilot or work in the aviation industry, in the hope that doing so will somehow bring more Michelin jobs to the Valley. Oh and lets not forget Michelin has publicly stated they have NO PLANS FOR EXPANSION AT THE WATERVILLE PLANT!! If more rational heads do not prevail the airport land will be an empty and unkept field of lost dreams while our local aviation industry will be a just a memory. Pissed off and flabbergasted at such dishonesty and lack of vision by your elected Warden Brothers is also truly an understatement!!!!
