To store information and retrieve it when needed, thats what schools teach some of their pupils - whilst theyre being bullied, and they wont even necessarily understand that info either, I believe all of ours are better for having had their home education time, allowing them to learn at their pace, develop themself without all the unnecessary nastiness, and mix with others when they choose, and have certainly bypassed so many of the stresses that often result in many teens bring on antidepressants whilst still at school.
