To summarize last nights City Council meeting: 1. Council will consider raising the minimum wage paid to Municipal employees to $10.10 in August. 2. Rather than approve a contract for fake bricks downtown, we asked the City Manager to get a quote for real bricks. Sorry to drag this out but I want it done right. 3. We ordered new standardized garbage/recycling carts to go with our nifty automated side-loading garbage trucks. Delivery in August. 4. The ordinance to abolish Council term limits failed for lack of a second meaning it didnt have enough support to even warrant a discussion let alone a vote. Ouch. 5. The ordinance to abolish Commission term limits failed, again. Will Mr. Broadwell put these on the next agenda and try again? He says no. Well see. Something unprecedented happened last night. Even though the ordinances to abolish term limits failed at the previous meeting, they were given new ordinance numbers and put back onto the agenda. While legal, it is *highly* irregular. Never have I seen such a legislative act of desperation in City government. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. - Bryan
