To tackle insurgency and general law & order, strategic planning is always above all measures whereas lack of it may cause irreparable damage to our forces. Killing of Nityananda Goswami is just an example of it. Having launched successful onslaughts to eliminate top leaders of an insurgent group and curbing their activities, Late Goswami deserved to be equipped and backed with more reinforcements or shifted to relatively safer positions as it was quite natural for him to have attracted vengeful actions from those who suffered the wrath of this brave officer. While feeling proud of this valiant officer, simultaneously one can’t help accusing the system that failed to arrange necessary backup to this man and sends a wrong signal to dedicated and selfless Govt. functionaries. Moreover, the accusations articulated by the family before media are extremely disturbing. I personally do not subscribe the idea that at this moment of extreme bereavement the family engages itself in telling lies or doing any politics and urge the Govt. to come up with a whitepaper on every issue raised by the family; if required, even by a CBI inquiry. Anything short of this will demoralize our forces and encourage the reprobating forces. Perception about intentions of a Govt. must carry to people without any distortion.
