To the best of my knowledge, a vocaloid is a Japanese music phenomenon where an animated character is portrayed as a singer. The music and signing is done by computer. Apparently they project a hologram at concerts. Currently, mainstream pop music uses a lot of vocal manipulation. A lot of the backing music sounds like it is generated by a computer, or is over-produced. In addition, it seems that pop stars must act cartoonish to get attention. Why not skip the drama and replace Miley Cyrus (or a similar artist) with a cartoon character?
