To the dead souls ! Google was a totally out of the curve idea - TopicsExpress

To the dead souls ! Google was a totally out of the curve idea when it was presented in Digital Libraries Project . The combine idea of BRIN and SAGE was destined to doom unless it was provided by Stanford University with one small factor. That small factor was faith ; the university’s faith was always in their students believing that they would innovate, try new things , be vulnerable , get failed and then rise again. Professor Terry Winograd worked with those minds and that faith procured the billion dollar industry of Google . I have been searching for that faith , believing that it should exist in our society but haven’t found a small ray of it yet . Well , it’s the lack of faith that has made us to demur everything that could change us to a First World Country . It was the missing aspect of it from the universities to their students , from the government to its citizens , from the industry to its laborers, from the political parties to its workers and from everyone to their subjugates . Being a student of the Pakistani Education system and in a hope of finding faith , I have found the ideological endorsement from the institution I have been under . Everyone is a free soul , a dreamer , an innovator and a happy worker until that idea gets beaten out by our professors . Universities no longer truly believe in their students ; they don’t believe that the students own the university , they only believe in the owning of the students . You don’t believe me , go for yourself and you will see the deep rooted ideologies of various universities and they intellectually grow students in that fake environment believing they would give something different . Well , that’s going to be a mess , no one changes ideological basis of life and if it gets pressurized one just graves that ideology in his deepest pits and vaunts as a dead soul . When was the last time , we were truly proud of our universities in any manner , the last time our universities marked dignity in the world’s top universities ? Thoughts might get lost but answers are surely hard to find . What could be the factors ? Lack of money , maybe yes but lack of passion , yes definitely . Faith is a hard thing to demand but ideologies ought to be questioned first . Most of the universities start with the hoax merit strategy , believing that they can find the true passionate scientists , doctors , engineers and social workers on the basis of sheer numbers and then rank the subjects with the amount of numbers it possess . Medical is a dignified field because of more numbers and biotechnology yearns due to less numbers . Ideology starts with a choice ; a first ,second , third choice and so on …. No one can remain passionate being the second choice of society . The way inside is more hideous . You can never customize the things you learn rather you get the things which university believes you must learn ; no liberal education . It is the moment when the first step of second choice shows up again ; teachers who got struck in teaching demotivates you deep inside . You demand freedom in your education and the ideological endorsement gets in , you demand innovation and ideological endorsement hurts again , you don’t want to listen to that teacher and yes ideological endorsement strikes again and it afflicts again and again until you lose your inner ideology and that’s where university gives you a medal hailing you as the best graduate of the batch . Those best graduates come in real life and just vanish like a thin air . You tell me they exist ? Where are those best economists when economy of your country is failing , where are those best doctors when health of your country is declining , where are those social artists when art of your country is disappearing and where are those great philosophers when the very philosophy of your country deteriorates . They once existed and asked to have a belief in them but no one believed them , no one ! - Muhammad Youshay (25/1/2015)
