To the men visiting this page — When you read the comments posted by the women here, you have a choice: 1) You can get defensive and rise up claiming that its not ALL men who treat women this way (which is true, but what they are discussing isnt about YOU... its about THEM). 2) You can stand up and say, Its not only men! Some women treat men like sh*t, too! -- which is ALSO true, but it doesnt nullify their experiences. 3) You can claim its misandry — but misandry is the hatred of men. Misandry doesnt apply when you are talking about *SOME* men who treat women badly... nor is it man-hating when you tell some men what they dont want to hear. 4) You can listen. While you arent the man who hurt them, their experience is real for them. Instead of trying to talk them out of their feelings—or explaining how what they experienced doesnt matter anymore because its over—why not just get empathetic and recognize that their is another human soul in pain. It takes nothing away from you and doesnt make you accountable for what happened to them. It just allows you to identify with someone who is working past things the best way they can... and they will have an advocate in a perfect stranger who is just listening without judgement.
