To the public, theory can mean an opinion or conjecture (its only a theory), but in the scientific world it has a much stronger connotation of well-substantiated explanation“. So, remember the next time you read trusted scientific information that mentions theory, you can read it as well-substantiated explanation. It is NOT only an opinion. It is a well-substantiated explanation. Dont fall for the trap of it meaning opinion or conjecture. But, on the other hand, remember when reading of pseudo-science and superstitions it is not even a good scientific hypothesis and can be read as opinion and conjecture. There is a huge difference.
