To the staff at Northern Hospital, Epping. This place was Hell on Earth! It was an absolute disgrace. My Mother was admitted in the early hours of Friday morning with excruciating pain. By 2pm the following day ( more than 24 hours) a doctor had still not been in to see her. During this time we were repeatedly advised I have paged the doctor and he will be here shortly. A while later somebody decided to be honest with us and advised that there are NO DOCTORS over the weekend period - only on call Interns! So my mother waited in pain for a mythical doctor to turn up. Northern Hospital - you have no right to that name when you have no doctors available to help those in need. The conditions of the hospital itself - appalling!It was filthy, the smell was unhygienic, my mothers ward, and many others I could see whilst walking the halls had no natural light and there was no ventilation. Medical implements lay scattered around for anybody to pick up. in short - It was dangerous and disgusting, certainly unfit for anybody convalescing. The staff - as I have mentioned there were NO DOCTORS. During various enquirers we made as to when my mother might be able to receive medical attention we could see staff at the nurses station on Facebook and eating Lamingtons. Its all about perception, and the perception was that you dont care! If you did there certainly would have been some communication between the staff there - which there wasnt! Finally the absolute breaking point for me was when my mother, now in tears and still unaware of what was wrong, fearfully asked my sister-in-law and myself Am I going to die in here? From there my family organised an immediate discharge from this disgraceful facility and transferred her to another hospital nearby - where she has now received full medical attention, tests have been run; results analysed and surgery now booked! this was done in the space of 10 hours! Thank you Austin Hospital! I beg of you Northern Hospital - change your ways! I understand some of what I am furious about could be the Health System but it boils down to how you wish to operate in it and the level of care you give your patients. Hospitals are a place people should automatically have faith in - well youve certainly lost mine and you will not be getting it back!
