To the victors belong the spoils.. the Boston Red Sox have, for - TopicsExpress

To the victors belong the spoils.. the Boston Red Sox have, for this season anyway, vanquished the Detroit Tigers as the American League champion. They are indeed deservant. Though a good ballclub, they significantly overachieved in the way of getting far better than expected production from numerous players all over its roster. This club was expected by most to hover around .500 this season, but they far exceeded those expectations to defeat the team who is unarguably the best in terms of overall roster strength. But, gross overachievement or not, the Red Sox did indeed beat the best team to capture the title. They won it fair and square, so again, they are deservant. However, they better enjoy this one, because unless they make some major acquisitions this winter, there is absolutely no chance of this team having EVERYTHING go right, and well over and above it at that, for a 2nd year in a row. Cinderella did not receive 2 invitations to the ball, if you get my drift. Hopefully those in the Boston front office realize this, and act accordingly with major roster upgrades in the realization that a merely above average roster as they presently have cant get that lucky twice in a row. That said, no taking anything away from them in this Cinderella year as I formally congratulate the 2013 American League Champion, the Boston Red Sox. The Tigers?? Ooohh, this one stung them good. This winter, watch for them to acquire the relief arms and base running speed which they lacked this season to balance out the team. They wont take this one lying down, I assure you. They still have EASILY the best starting pitching in baseball, as well as a lineup that trashes most pitchers. What stopped their lineup in the playoffs is the lack of speed in the lineup to compliment the power, as in the playoffs a team faces alot of pitchers having career seasons, so therefore the ability to manufacture runs becomes very important.. which is what they lack. Expect that need to be fulfilled this winter. As to fans from Central division teams like Cleveland and KC thinking they may be able to take the Tigers now that they lost the pennant to the Red Sox. NO, YOU CANT!! Detroit is the UNQUESTIONED MONARCH of the Central, and even before the Tigers make moves to fix their 2 deficiencies this winter, it STILL required a team playing FAR over its head in an enchanted year to knock off the Tigers. The smart money says that when Dettoit meets Boston during the regular season next year that they beat them unmercifully for this, in fact, Im COUNTING ON IT!! As to you guys in Cleveland and KC, you 2 are getting better, but you guys are nowhere near the strength of the Tigers.. not even vlose, so I wouldnt be salivating over this if I were you. On the contrary, watch for an angry Tigers team to make whatever moves are necessary this winter, and watch for that vengeful ballclub to wreek absolutr hell on that division next season, as this series loss will be paid for dearly, and that, my Indians and Royals friends is something YOU can count on.
