To the young woman sitting next to me this evening at #Matilda in seat H111, please learn a little theater etiquette. Everyone runs a little late sometimes, but when you are late for the first act, make sure you are in your (middle-of-the-row) seat for the beginning of the second. When you are then late for the second time, do not proceed to noisily unwrap your sweets while giggling. Many people will take a surreptitious glance at their phone, to check on an urgent business matter, a message from their babysitter, or news of a sick relative. But spending the entire show updating your asinine Facebook feed and texting your friends is NOT ok. That little blue light from your phone irritated the sh*t out of me and several others- couldnt it wait?! I wish I had said something to you, but didnt want to disturb my fellow theater goers by making a scene. (Still too English to really call myself a New Yorker) Then again, you may pay more attention to reading this on Facebook. Seat H111, I loved the show in spite of you. I know you liked it too because you texted and posted about every single scene. Next time you have tickets to a show, be on time, unwrap your sweets in advance and put your f&@ing device away.
