To those among us that claim to have little or no interest in - TopicsExpress

To those among us that claim to have little or no interest in politics, I have bad news. Politics is universal. Politics affect everyone. For most normal people, if something affects them, they have some interest in it, at least to the extent they are aware they are affected by it. For a person to have little or no interest in politics, means they are not aware of the extent that they are affected by politics, or that they are not affected by politics. Unfortunately, given the uninterrupted war economy since 1940, the latter is exceedingly unlikely. Some of us are, however, interested in politics. Therefore we dialog about them. In the USA, almost all of our dialog about politics has as a primary assumption that we have a democratic form of government. That is the whole reason for getting the word out, for news, news analysis, and news commentary. First thing is to make people aware, to educate, then the appropriate solutions will naturally flow out of the US political processes. Right? Thats what Ive always thought. If that assumption is removed, how might it change our political dialog? Does sounding the alarm make as much sense under a not-a-democracy? In particular, does sounding the alarm, without any follow-up recommended action, make sense? Is sounding the alarm about authoritarian abuse even a rational act under a not-a-democracy?
