To those of you Im supposed to call - Elisabeth, Teresa Kay, Amber - Im not ignoring you, I swear. I just cant open my mouth without crying right now. Just give me some time. I kept it together all day during my first work day, only to fall apart immediately after pulling out of the parking lot. I picked up the phone & dialed all three of you, but couldnt manage to push send. To those of you who have sent me well wishes, I cant read them right now. But thank you desperately for thinking of me & my sweet family. One of the most wonderful sites Ive ever seen was when I walked into the room after shed already passed, & my beautiful family was gathered around, solely for her. One way or another, she was either the one who brought us into the world or the reason for our existence or presence. My brain knows shes better off, & I take solace in that. However, my heart doesnt care right now. The memorial service for Dolores Kent Porter will be Thursday, June 5 at 7pm at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City, with visitation for family at 5pm. No graveside service will be held at this time. If you can be there to celebrate the life of one of the most wonderful women this earth has ever had the fortune to behold, please come. We would love to see you all. She was the most giving, selfless, pure, honorable, honest, perfect souls that has ever been. She lived a life of constant trial, but was always able to find humor in the darkest situations, especially her own. She lived her life through & through with grace, kindness & benevolence. She loved her family, her friends, & always had room to love more.
