To whom it concerns, A travel advisory was issued in August with regards to the Ebola virus and the procedures for the implementation of the travel advisory may be found on the Department of Health’s website: health.gov.za/ebola.php I have been in touch with the NATHOC surveillance desk at the Department of Health this morning. They have confirmed that if you wish to travel to: GUINEA, LIBERIA or SIERRA LEONE , you must fill out specific documentation which may be acquired from the following e-mail address: [email protected] before leaving South Africa. They have also confirmed that KENYA, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO and ETHIOPIA are identified as medium risk countries and that students traveling to these countries need to complete a travel health questionnaire and submit to the Department of Health at the following e-mail address: [email protected] Please note that I have confirmed that NIGERIA is NOT in the list.
